  In Memory of Puternut

  after reading the news about puternut, i decided to compile some of his posts into one, so we can all share in his memory.

  there are many ups and downs listed below, but i ended it off with a post he made to all of us who helped him during his difficult times.

  puternut is starting his life over, because i had nothing left, and needed to move on.

  I am still trying to comprehend this sad sad news.
  
  I wish there was an address where we could ALL send our condolences
  and share our loss of this wonderful, caring man with the people who judged him otherwise.
  
  He stepped into this world, our world, and moved us all.

  Those with eyes will see, eventually.
  
  I'm starting to get the feeling that all their "true" christian descriptions, like wise, true, mature, dedicated.... etc. etc. no longer just mean - "only JWs" - More like in house policing - a separation between active and inactive, zealot and fader, group think and independant thinker.

  Oprah, James Frey and the call for TRUTH

  i don't know if you have been following the story about james frey, author of a million little pieces, how the book was inducted into oprah's book club last fall, with him making an appearance on the show, proclaiming the "memoir" as completely true and unaltered.

  she even delayed announcing her next book club selection by six weeks to give this book more publicity.. some investigation by the smoking gun revealed that many of the accounts in the book were embellished beyond any recognition of truth.

  for example, the incident where frey claims to have been in jail for 3 months, was actually only a matter of hours.

  Is spiritual compatibility important?

  how important is/was spirituality to you when considering a person as a husband/wife?

  did you expect the person to have similar spiritual beliefs and goals?

  if s/he didn't have similar beliefs, was it important to be able to discuss spirituality respectfully ?

  I believe it IS possible to have an intimate relationship on a spiritual level with someone with a different belief system, as long as there is open communication and respect that encourages growth, of the individual and the relationship.
  
  Where it breaks down, as seen so often in most JW/nonJW marriages, is that a dangerous high control group is calling the shots. When one partner puts brooklyn rule ahead of their spiritual relationship with their god and their spouse, the trouble begins. WTgod does not allow for open communication and respect, nor do they encourage growth.
